We’re sad to say farewell to one of RealClassic’s oldest friends, Bill Crosby, who died last weekend, a month before his 88th birthday.

William Charles Crosby was one of the stalwarts of the British and then classic motorcycle scene. For 60 years, he ran Reg Allen Motorcycles in west London, as a Meriden Triumph agent in the early years and then as an Enfield dealer in more recent times. Bill also nurtured scramblers, sidecar racers and production racers with his sponsorship, knowledge and enthusiasm.

In 1999 he opened the only motorcycle museum in the country’s capital city, the London Motorcycle Museum, which welcomed visitors for some 20 years.

We were fortunate to be among those visitors, and Bill and his tight-knit team generously hosted many RC ride-in gatherings at the LMM. Bill supported RealClassic from its earliest days, and he’ll be much missed on the classic motorcycling scene.

Bill’s family have asked that any donations in his memory are made through JustGiving, in aid of the British Legion. A memorial will be held for Bill, when circumstances permit, and we’ll circulate those details when they become available.
