This 1991 Yamaha FZR1000 was completed after a complete stripdown and was finished in 2007 by CMM reader Stephen Richards.

“Most parts were powder coated and the body panels re-sprayed. Most of the nuts and bolts were changed for stainless and everything else was zinc coated. Fork seals, all bearings, brakes, chain and sprockets were replaced. As you can see, I went for a gold and black theme, which I think suits the bike,” says Stephen.

“Unfortunately after taking the Yamaha on several long journeys I wasn’t enjoying the feel of the bike as the seating and reach were aggravating my lower back, but that’s probably my age,” Stephen explains.

As a result the FZR was sold and Stephen then bought a Honda VFR750 for the more upright riding position. This has also gone through a complete rebuild and will shortly be going for its MoT.
